Drug and Alcohol Testing Guidelines

Safety sensitive workplaces must fully consider the personal health and safety of each of its employees, subcontractors, and the public and establish and maintain an alcohol and drug free workplace. The Drug and Alcohol Testing Guidelines complement and form part of the Drug and Alcohol Policy (policy also offered by Tact).

The Guidelines set out the circumstances in which testing for Drugs and Alcohol may be required, what constitutes prohibited conduct, the different types of tests to be employed, and the protocols for addressing positive tests. The Guidelines – the education, training, testing, and Employee Assistance Protocol described therein – aim to balance respect for the dignity of each Worker and the Company Name’s responsibility toward ensuring a safe workplace. As such, the Guidelines  form part of the overall assessment of safety risks as well as factor into the individual assessment for accommodation as the case may be.
